About Optical Fiber Splicing course

Optical Fiber Splicing is a technique used to join two optical fiber cable. This technique is used in optical fiber communication, in order to form long optical links for better and long distance signal transmission. Splicers are basically couplers that form a connection between two fibers or fiber bundles.
At the time of splicing two optical fiber cable, the geometry of the fiber, their proper alignment and mechanical strength must be taken into consideration.

Objective of the course
Objective of the programme is to skill one lakh rural youth on Optical Fibre Splicing course which will be further responsible for the maintenance and up keep the BharatNet Network at GP level as first-level of maintenance. It will result in minimizing disruption to service delivery over BharatNet to the Gram Panchayats (GPs).
Training will be imparted in on-line mode followed by instructor led medium and digital content access. Candidate can get training at their places without the need to move to different locations and hampering their other day-to-day work. It will ensure adequate availability of skilled manpower to boost growth and productivity in the Telecom sector in near future.
Need of the course
CSC Wi-fi Choupal has been assigned the task of first-line maintenance, upkeep of BharatNet infrastructure and several types of equipment to support the last-mile Internet service delivery which utilizes BharatNet infrastructure.
For first-line maintenance and upkeep of BharatNet network, there is a huge requirements of trained manpower at ground level. Candidates would get adequate technical knowledge and benefits after completion of training. Trained youth will able to performing various activities like Identification of hardware and system, proper maintenance, patrolling activities to do the surveillance in various fibre stretches, safeguarding to avoid fibre cut, preventive and corrective maintenance, test link attributes like the splice loss/link loss after the rectification of faults, carrying out splicing and termination of optical fibre as and when the fault is reported for the maintenance of BharatNet. Technicians also do the deployment of FTTH connection and maintenance of Wi-Fi community networks.
These skilled manpower will further explore new business opportunity in skill development space to upskill more young professionals across the country in the emerging areas of technologies.
